☆ ★ combat skill overview;
Cecil is changing form instantly between his Dark knight and Paladin forms. Each form is drastically different from the other, Dark knight used primarily to inflict damage and Paladin used to defend allies. Each form has varying abilities.

☆ ★ dark knight abilities;
As a Dark Knight Cecil's stats are heavily weighted physically, and he has barely any Magic Defense, meaning that a quick nuke will certainly hurt. He is a damage-dealer by nature and quite simply a juggernaut in that regard. In this form he can only equip dark swords, shields, and armor designed specifically for Dark Knights. While dealing critical blows to almost everything else, His weapons are ineffective against all forms of the undead highlighting that one cannot defeat darkness with darkness. His most powerful Dark Sword, the Deathbringer, can inflict instant death on his opponents. As a Dark Knight he has very low MP and Spirit.

★ Valiant Blow / Slashes the enemy three times in succession.
★ Dark Cannon" / Charges and fires dark orbs behind an opponent. The orbs surround and knocks the opponent to him.
★ Shadow Lance / Throws sword to knock foe away, then teleports sword back to hand.
★ Gravity Ball Fires a slow-moving ball of energy that travels downward in an arc towards the enemy.
★ Dark Fall / Flips into the air and descends to force an opponent into the air above him.
★ Darkness / Summons the power of darkness around him. Makes the next three hits twice as powerful, but is used at the expense of Cecil's own life. HP drops by around 10-25% per hit.
★ Soul Eater / Stabs with Shadowblade, if it connects, follows up with a blast of darkness from other hand.
★ Dark Flame / Stabs the ground, resulting in a homing wave of black fire.

☆ ★ Paladin abilities;
Once Cecil becomes a Paladin, his stats increase, especially in Magic Defense and Spirit. It should be noted that a Level 1 Paladin Cecil has 600 HP, which is much more than even a Level 20 Dark Knight Cecil. He can now equip about any weapon that isn't a class-specific weapon, including swords, knives, and axes. Cecil can also equip most shields, hats, helmets, armor, tunics, rings, and gloves, not to mention his original ultimate weapon, the Ragnarok. Once Cecil becomes a Paladin he can use the Cover ability which allows him to intercept physical attacks against the ally Cover is targeting. Cecil automatically uses this ability to protect any ally whose HP is low. Cecil will automatically stop Covering, active or passive, when his HP is critical. As a Paladin, Cecil can use some basic White Magic. However his low magic power lowers his effectiveness with them. (generally duration a casting lasts, and base amount of HP restored in the case of Cure spells.) The spells he can use are as follows.

☆ Cure / A very basic healing spell. Capable of stitching up flesh wounds.
☆ Sight / Allows Cecil the ability to "see" a mental map of where he is.
☆ Libra / Allows Cecil to see his enemy's relative strength and weakness.
☆ Protect / Conjures a magical barrier to take a percentage of damage from melee attacks.
☆ Cura / A mid-level curing spell. Capable of resetting broken bones.
☆ Teleport / Allows Cecil to escape battle or an area.
☆ Shell / Conjures a magical barrier to take a percentage of damage from magical attacks.
☆ Esuna / Cures abnormality such as disease or poisoning.
☆ Raise / Awakens the fallen.

Cecil also possesses the following abilities as Paladin.

☆ Slash / A basic aerial slash attack.
☆ Lightning Upper / Dashes toward an opponent. Attacks, and hurls them into the air above him.
☆ Ray Wings / Spins towards an opponent while slashing at them. If the hit connects, he then will follow up with multiple attacks that slam the opponent to the ground.
☆ Sacred Cross / Dives under an opponent, then rises and strikes them multiple times and knocks them away.
☆ Search Light / Summons a magic seal that fires light projectiles.
☆ Saint Dive / Dives towards foe in a rising arc, then slams them to the ground.
☆ Paladin Force / Shoots a projectile of light to stun his foe, then flies around them while slashing. Followed by a downward slam.

☆ ★ in-depth information;
It's easy to look at Cecil and know straight-off that he isn't human. His skin is white. The man is utterly pale. His skin never burns or colours in sunlight and emits a faint light in darkness-- very much like the surface of the moon itself. He has shoulder-length hair which changes colour depending on the light around him. From a pale blue to slight lavender to pure white crossed with the palest kind of blonde. However, in a natural light his hair is silver. Cecil's eyes are a remarkably bright kind of blue, which is multifaceted with small streaks of purple in them which aren't particuarly noticable until you look closely. His lips are naturally stained light purple. Whilst a humans lips are a darker shade than their skin, Cecil's are instead a delicate shade of purple. His build is strong, and he is quite tall. His looks and height are a hallmark of his Lunarian blood.

Cecil is a very no-nonsense sort which is morally straight as an arrow, practical and forthright. He is very much the martyr which would lay his life down to protect others, but never takes the higher moral ground. He believes in forgiveness, and is very non-judgemental. He is an excellent military tactician, calm and composed. Incredibly strong in mind and body, and holds himself with the grace of royalty. He has been through a lot in his lifetime, so very little shocks him. He keeps his eyes focused entirely on the task at hand. Unfortunately, Cecil relies very heavily on his weapons. While capable of some hand-to-hand skill without them, he unfortunately only possesses the abilities of anyone which likes to box. He is unfamiliar with modern settings. Emotionally, a sore point is the self-imposed exile of his best friend and his brother.

☆ ★ history;
Cecil is an elite young man who was not only a Dark Knight and captain of Baron's prized air force "The Red Wings", but the Holy Paladin which succeeded Baron's throne and restored order to the six nations of the world. Cecil was born to a Lunarian named Kluya, and a human named Cecilia. Kluya was not of this world -- he was a Lunarian which, like all of the other Lunarians, had been forced from their planet and forced to take up temporary residency on the second moon. The Lunarians wished to examine Earth to see if that could be inhabited, and Kluya went down to the planet to gather information. Upon arriving, he spent time with the humans as one of them, learning about the struggles of everyday life and seeing first hand that the human race was completely inferior compared to the Lunarians. Before Kluya went back to the second moon, he decided to teach humans how to use magic in the hopes of making their existance better. The Lunarians decided that it was unfair to destroy an inferior race to get hold of their planet, and instead elected to sleep away the millenia until the day arrived when they could co-inhabit the planet together; Lunarian and human alike. Kluya however, decided not to sleep. He felt that Lunarians and Humans could coexist, the humans just needed to be educated. Kluya returned to Earth, settled down with a human woman named Cecilia. The Lunarians were right in their assumptions about humans. The lessons in magic the Lunarian gave them made them discover pride, greed and envy. Kluya was slain by the humans he'd taught in front of Theodore. Cecilia later gave birth to Theodores' brother, Cecil. Theodore knew that she shouldnt have continued with the pregnancy, something was wrong and she became very ill while pregnant. However, she gave birth to a healthy, wailing baby boy and promptly passed away as she held her son for the first time. Theodore then couldn't contain his sadness and his hatred for this baby (which in his eyes had taken away everything he had..) and he took the infant and abandoned him under a tree outside the kingdom of Baron, hoping the frost would kill it off. However, Cecil's wailing alerted the guards of Baron which in turn alerted the king to the strange looking infant in front of them. The King of Baron commented that the child looked alot like a woman he knew in the past despite his strange colouring, and arranged for the child to be taken in and to live in the court of the king. His origins are unknown to all, and the King's faith and belief in Cecil made many Baronians question the one which had been given so much from being a simple orphan. Many more people however, men and women alike, have been charmed by his forthright demeanor. Cecil began his military career as a lowly section commander in the Baronian infantry. In recognition of his talent and skills he was made a Dark Knight (an occupation which is shared by only the best of Baron's military) and appointed the first commander of the then-newly-established Red Wings. The Red Wings held the highest position of military power in Baron and Cecil stood at its pinnacle. The level of confidence placed in him was readily apparent.

Cecil's faith in his liege is shaken by the king's aggression toward Mysidia, and he renounces his loyalty to Baron after being sent on a mission to eliminate the Summoners of Mist where he is forced to choose between obeying his liege and murdering a child. After he witnesses the Red Wings' destruction of Damcyan, he begins to actively oppose Baron's quest for power. When a twist of fate leaves him stranded in Mysidia (the very town he massacred at the King's behest) he endures their loathing stoically. The Mysidian Elder, seeing something significant in Cecil's contrition, sends him on a quest to Mt. Ordeals. It is there that Cecil conquers a manifestation of his own dark past and embraces a new power--a shining light that addresses him as 'son.' Then, he realises what he has to do to atone for his bloody past. Cecil has to engage a duplicate of himself in Dark Knight form, and keep his sword sheathed as the manifestation strips the life away from him. He calmly tells the duplicate of himself which is killing itself further with every blow against him that "There are greater victories than simply revenge." and the manifestation breathes its last as it strikes Cecil's unmoving form again and again. Cecil emerges from his ordeal a Paladin, ready to put an end to Baron's lust for power. He pursues his enemies with a newfound determination, even journeying to the Moon in search of aid and information. It is there that he meets a Lunarian named Fusoya and learns that his father, Kluya, was also a Lunarian...and that his nemesis, Golbez, is actually his own brother Theodore... albeit under the influence of an evil Lunarian called Zemus. He learns that Theodore (under Zemus' direction) abandoned him as a child, changed his name to Golbez and covered his face from that day on out of shame. Armed with this knowledge, Cecil and Fusoya confront Golbez once more. With Fusoya's help, Golbez's memory of what he truly is is restored, and he begs Cecil's forgiveness in vain. Despite the newfound love and light in Cecil's heart that led to his rekindling a relationship with Rosa, Cecil is not yet ready to address Golbez with brotherly compassion. After conquering Zemus and seeing his brother risk his life in pursuit of their common goal, Cecil is finally able to come to terms with their relationship and address him kindly. As Golbez departs for the unknown under the guidance of Fusoya, Cecil returns to Baron, where he marries Rosa and becomes the new King, in accordance with the will of the people.

Shortly after, the world Cecil knew and protected was torn asunder by a far greater force than Zemus, the God of Chaos himself. Being the only warrior from his world able to survive the end of it, he is transported to another world and beseeched by the Goddess of Harmony, Cosmos to fight against the forces of the god of discord Chaos to return the universe to its normal state. Teaming up with Cloud and Firion (each respected warriors from their own worlds) Cecil eventually journeys through fragments of his world and others worlds and reaches his nemesis, Golbez. Surprised by the fact "the darkness in his heart he must overcome" is his brother, Cecil refuses to fight him. Golbez explains that he will always remain as the darkness in Cecil's heart, and he can never be truly forgiven for all he has done so the path of evil is the only thing which welcomes him. Cecil engages Golbez on the moon, but shows his brother his final act of compassion by not slaying him. Afterwards, Golbez admits to Cecil that his heart was never truly in darkness and vows to take the hard path and attain forgiveness for all he has done. He gives Cecil the crystal to rebuild his world willingly and disappears much to the Paladin's dismay.
